Blog 9 Understanding Web design

The main changes that I noticed were using a different web designer program. SeaMonkey was totally new to me, so it took a few weeks to really get to know it. I previously used dreamweaver so I was used to doing things a little differently. I know now that one much keep the home page called index, and everything really is case sensitive. If a main folder or a picture is capitalized and it was linked with a lower case, it will definetely not work. I really noticed that the most, because I don't remember doing it previously. I believe that teaching this for future students would help them learn it even faster when told about the troubles that I went through, so they would get it right the first time.

Blog 8 Knowledge

The main things that I learned throughout this class, was that I learned how to organize a website so that it can be easily accessed and edited. I also learned how to use templates even easier without much hassle. I've learned things like linking images in different ways and a few things with html, but not much. For future students building or someone planing to build a website in the future I suggest learning html. It will become a big use in the future expecially if you ever need to create one for your career. Here is a website to help with html, or even this.
I also learned how to use a new photo editing software that I had never even heard of before, it is Gimp, and a web developing software as well. Here is a help site for Gimp. I love trying out different kinds of software so that I can get to know a big variety. It really helps me out in the future.

Blog 7 Website Videos

One main website that came to my mind really fast was http://www.youtube.com. The whole site is movies. It enhances the site, because it shows the top viewed ones and best rated movies that people have posted, so this whole website is excellent with movies enhancing it. Thats why more and more people post up their movies and watch them all day long.

Another quick one that I thought of that stands out for most is http://www.myspace.com. This site has sweet movie previews that run while one browses. It is a plus, because of istead of having boring ad's that bother you, instead you get to watch movies of things that will excite and not bore. There is also a lot of movies that you can view while on this site which makes it an excellent website for movies.

I think that out of my three, http://www.fox.com is the best for videos. It is the best because you can view multiple seasons of tv's right from there website. So don't worry if you missed an episode, because you will beable to view it right on this website. Only problem is you can't view them with full screens, so if you don't mind watching them smaller and on your monitor screen, then view away.

Blog 6 PodCasts

Hello again!!! The podcasts that I found to be interesting academically or professionally were Nova Science, TWIT, and Geek brief TV. Nova science had a lot of cool science videos that I could learn things from. It also showed new things discovered throughout science. I found it in the science and medicine section on itunes.
TWIT is "This week in tech". This one showed a new technology that was been greated or a summary of a current one. It had a few things with ciruits in it so I could relate it to my degree. Geek Brief TV is pretty much the same as TWIT but jumps around to bigger selection of technologys, like new gaming consoles, upcoming ones and so one. Both of things sites are excelent if you like technologys. They are both found in the technology section within the podcast section on itunes.
The two sites that I liked personally were special ops paintball and happy tree friends. I love to play paintball in my free time, and this site was the first thing I subscribed too. It can be found in the sports section. It shows new guns out and new upcoming paintball events that i'm really considering going to. Happy tree friends is found in the humor section. If you don't know what it is, it is sick humor. I have all of the old videos on dvd, this podcast has new ones that i've never seen before.

Blog 4 Fair Use

Fair use to me is someone elses work used in a legal way. Websites get copyrights for a reason. They have to pay for them. When keeping it fair use when using things from there sites, just credit their website or provide a link taking them directly to the website where you got something from. Just keep things credited and not say that it was all done by yourself and only yourself. Here is a very useful site that explains all about copyrights that will help clarify any questions about them. Click the Pic. As for creative common licensing. It is a non profit organization that has added copyrights to there sites. Here is a nice definition from wikipedia.

another copyrights that I searched and found was; the share-alike which is the term used in the creative common licensing project for copyright licenses. That is, those including a clause requiring that any derived version of the work to be shared on like terms with everyone else that is, "share and share alike".

Blog 3 Website creation

The audience that my website will present will be to all ages. The content of the website will show how my life is, and fun things that I do throughout it. Everyone will enjoy my writings and pictures that will be put on it as well. I hope that it is interesting and creative for all who visit it. I'm hopeing that the colors I choose will stand out nicely and the font that I chose. I want it to spice it up enough so that people won't get bored reading everything about me. There will be a family life section, about me section, school and career, and a reacreation section on my website. There will be links for each of these sections on my home page for everyone to visit. I am even puting a link directly to my blog so everyone can read those as well.

There already are some challenges that I am having right now. Its sometimes difficult to get everyone exactly the same on the template that I am using. It takes time and some skill to keep it the same coloring, design and just change the pictures and words. I'm sure that I will get it down eventually. Gimp is a new software for me and so is sea monkey, so give me a little while and i'll have them down to a science. Enjoy my website when I publish it.

Blog #2 My Three Favorite Websites

My first favorite website is of course http://www.osu.edu.

I like how the site is set up and also the name. Of course I go to school here and i'm a huge OSU fan, so seeing anything OSU is an excitement. I like how the links to things are easy to find and the navigation is organized keeping it easy to get around. I like the updated news and events that appear on the right side, always new and kept updated. I think that something could be added to improve the look, like more pictures, game clips, etc. This would really bring out school spirit and spice of the site and sports. The font and layout is easy to view, and the school colors on it help with school spirit.

Another one of my favorite sites is http://www.shurtugal.com/.

The reason why I like this site is because I am a huge fan of Christopher Paolini. I've read both his books and plan on reading his final book that will compete his trilogy soon to come out this summer. I check this site a lot becuase I keep myself updated on the news and when things will be released. This site is pretty easy to navigate. I don't like all of the ads on the site, but I know that those are things that are required when you use free host to makes websites. I think the font is small in the navigation bar and sometimes with the news reports. I think they need more graphics, but when they put more its nice. I like the backround a lot, because it brings out the eragon theme very well.

My final favorite website is

http://www.google.com.

This is my third favorite website. I know that it is a search engine, but I think that it is the best one. It helps me find anything that I am searching for quickly and I use the image section within it for projects, etc. When first going to this site, it will seem very boring to people, but it is a search engine. I think they could really spice it up by adding a better backround instead of a white one. There isn't much links to other things. The features on the toolbar are really nice, like google maps if you have ever used before is really amazing. Bottom line is that this is a small and boring looking site that provides excellent information and tools for every user.

Hello my Name is Bradley Kern! This is me

Learning how to create a website will help me later in life. I'm sure that I will require or need to make one on my own. I hope to learn all the tricks of the trade with web design so that I will be very successful when I need to create one.

When I use the internet, it is mostly for gaming and a little buying once in awhile. I also use it for school also. I took one class throughout highschool which taught we a little about dreaweaver, but I don't remember much about it.
